- Arlette Cooper Tinsley
Arlette
Cooper Tinsley has worked for the Columbus Human Rights Commission
since 1995. She enjoys working with the proficient Commission
staff that includes Deputy Director Lorraine Smith and Secretary
Lula Young, and the diverse group of all-volunteer, City
Council-appointed Commissioners who shape Commission policies
and procedures. Arlette earned both her Bachelor of Arts and
Juris Doctorate degrees at the University of Virginia, and is
licensed as an attorney in Indiana and Kentucky. Before coming
to the Commission, she worked for a battered women and rape
crisis shelter as a staff attorney. She lives in Columbus with
her husband and their two children. Arlette
volunteers at her children's school, serves on the Heritage
Fund's Outreach Committee, and has served on the Board of Directors
of Bartholomew Area Legal Aid, Inc., as well as on the board
of the William R. Laws Foundation.
