Help Us Stop Vandalism in our Parks!

Vandalism continues to be a challenge for the Department. Since 2003, the department has spent over $158,000 to repair or replace park amenities damaged by vandals. Recently vandalism at Greenbelt Golf Course resulted in $8,000 damage. Vandals broke into the cart storage shed, damaged golf carts and drove onto the greens. In response to this latest act of vandalism, the Columbus Park Foundation has established an award fund for information about acts of vandalism that leads to the apprehension of those responsible. To donate to the fund, contact Cindy Brummett (812) 376-2680 or via email at cbrummett@columbus.in.gov. We encourage all persons in the community to get involved with the parks around them and report any acts of vandalism
to the Columbus Police Department.

Trees to Trees

Trees to TreesYou will notice green and yellow containers in the south parking lot at Donner Center, and Lincoln Park. This FREE paper recycling container is called an Abitibi.

Each ton of paper we recycle in the Abitibi containers will earn money that will go towards our "Trees to Trees" fund in the Park Foundation! "Trees to Trees" money will be used to plant new trees throughout the city, replenishing the trees we use as paper each day! You can recycle newspapers, magazines, catalogs, mail, envelopes, folders, paper and colored paper. So please bring your recycling to any of the above locations and help us purchase more trees!
