Chapter 10.28 STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING
Section 10.28.260 Short term parking zone.
A. The following areas shall be designated
as the "short term parking zone":
1. The south side of 3rd Street immediately
west of Washington Street;
2. The west side of Franklin Street immediately
north of 3rd Street;
3. The west side of Washington Street
between 3rd Street and 4th Street;
4. The north side of 5th Street immediately
south of the Bartholomew County Public Library;
5. The west side of Jackson Street from
4th Street to 5th Street;
6. The north side of 3rd Street immediately
west of Franklin Street (adjacent to the County
Office Building) from April 15th to May 10th and from October 15th to November 10th, (two hour
at all other times).
B. No person shall park in the short
term zone for more than fifteen minutes between the hours
of eight a.m. and five p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday except on the
following holidays;
The first day of January, commonly known as New Year's Day;
The thirtieth day of May, commonly known as Memorial Day;
The fourth day of July, commonly known as Independence Day;
The fourth Thursday of November, commonly known as Thanksgiving
Day;
The twenty-fifth day of December, commonly known as Christmas
Day.
C. If a vehicle remains continuously
parked in the area described for more than fifteen
minutes, the violator shall receive a notice of violation for overtime parking. If the vehicle remains
parked anywhere in the described area after it
has received a first notice of violation for overtime parking, even if it is parked
in a different place
in the described area, the violator shall receive a second notice of violation for overtime parking.
The second notice of violation
may be given fifteen minutes after the first notice is given. If the vehicle remains
parked anywhere
in the described area after it has received a second notice for violation for overtime parking, even
if
it is parked in a different
place in the described area, the violator shall receive a third notice of violation.
The third or
subsequent notice of violation may be given fifteen minutes after the previous notice is given.
D. All parking citations written pursuant
to the provisions of this section may be included on
one summons issued to the violator. (Ord. 95-4 § 4, 1995)
