In times of natural disaster or civil emergency, the mayor is authorized to activate the city emergency operations command post. The chief of the city police, the chief of the city fire department, the Bartholomew County health officer, the Bartholomew County emergency services coordinator and the Bartholomew County emergency preparedness coordinator, or their designated representatives, shall assist the mayor in evaluating the need for the declaration of a local disaster emergency.
