The Columbus Police Department is proud to congratulate Lieutenant Matt Harris on being named the 2024 DARE Indiana Law Enforcement Executive of the Year. This prestigious honor recognizes Lt. Harris’ exceptional commitment to educating and empowering youth in our community through the DARE program.
Lt. Harris, who has taught DARE for an incredible 22 years, was nominated for the award by Officer Romero, who highlighted his dedication, leadership, and positive influence in our schools and community. On Thursday, November 14th, Lt. Harris traveled to the Indiana State Capitol, where he was formally presented with the award (pictured with State Representative Craig Haggard and DARE Indiana Board President Dalton Thieneman).
This award highlights Lt. Harris’ long-standing dedication to making a difference in the lives of students and families. His years of teaching DARE reflect his commitment to building trust and creating a safer, stronger community.
