
About the Street Department
The Street Department (sometimes known as the Motor Vehicle Highway Department or MVH) operates from the Department of Public Works. The Street Department is dedicated to bettering the quality of life and safety for all residents and visitors of Columbus through improving and maintaining many aspects of our city’s infrastructure.
Responsibilities of the Street Department include:
- Alley grading, stoning, paving, and trimming
- Pothole repair
- Asphalt and street repair
- Street sweeping
- Fall loose leaf collection
- City storm drain maintenance and inlet repair
- Front grading and stoning
- Snow and ice removal from city streets
- Storm clean-up
