City Closings for July
City offices will be closed Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5 for the Fourth of July. Thursday and Friday curbside collections will be delayed by one day, with Friday’s collection happening on Saturday. Check your pickup day here. Columbus City Utilities offices will also be closed July 4-5. If you have a problem with your water or sewer service, please call 812-372-8861 and follow the prompts.

Updated Story: June 20, 2024 Columbus, IN — Donner Center has extended days and will now be open and staffed through Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Both Board of Public Works and City Council meetings have been moved to Monday, May 6. City offices will be closed Monday, May 27 for Memorial Day. Law Enforcement Memorial Service
In commemoration of National Police Week, a memorial service to honor law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty will be held on Friday, May 17th at 9:00 a.m. at the Public Safety Plaza near 2nd Street and Jackson Street in Columbus. During the thirty-minute ceremony, officers will honor the police officers and police canines who died in the line of duty during 2023. This year’s event will feature area law enforcement Honor Guards, bagpipers, a “21 gun” salute, and the playing of taps. The event is free and open to the public.
