Columbus, IN – The City of Columbus will be collecting all gently used or new eclipse glasses to donate to organizations that distribute them to educators and schools in other locations across the globe to view the same once in a lifetime experience we had on Monday, April 8, 2024.

In donating your gently used or new eclipse glasses, you are not only passing on the opportunity to witness an extraordinary natural phenomenon but also contributing to the education and wonderment of students and educators in different parts of the world. Your act of kindness will allow others to share in the same awe-inspiring moment we all experienced on that memorable day. Remember, a small gesture can make a big impact. Let’s spread the magic of the universe together!

If you have eclipse glasses lying around after the recent eclipse event, consider donating them. The lenses need to be made sure to be free of punctures, scratches and bends and the housing, whether it be plastic or cardboard, needs to be in good shape.

Please drop off any gently used or new glasses in the following locations between now and April 30, 2024:

  • Columbus Area Visitors Center
  • Columbus Department of Public Works
  • Columbus Municipal Airport
  • Any Columbus Fire Department
